The Space

The space has a nice suspension point, bamboos and floor mats.

The Suspension Point

The suspension point is redundantly secured and frequently checked. It is bolted into the ceiling with 3 different mount plates. Each plate is held in place by 4 concrete bolts. The plates are connected through a large metal pipe (above the drop ceiling). Any rings or bamboo suspended, are always attached to the pipe. Not the plates themselves. This means that the weight is always distributed between the 3 points, and there is never a single point of failure.

Each plate is rated for 500kg, which gives the total max load 1500kg. That is the weight of a fully grown adult giraffe, or a small car.

Every 2 months or so I do a full inspection and load check on the whole system. Here I check the integrity of the bolts, the pipe and the carabiners. I also check for cracks in the ceiling, or any other signs of damage or wear. I then load each individual mount point with my own weight (rather aggressively), to make sure that every single plate could easily take my weight.

I log the dates and results of the checks. If you want a copy or pictures of the construction, just ask, and I'll be happy to share them.
