Ropium Guidelines
Thai version / ภาษาไทย Tl;dr: We want to create a safe, fair space for people to explore rope. Kink is
messy, and the line between fun play and assault can be blurry. But that doesn't erase the harm that
a careless act or comment can do. To keep our community safe, there must be consequences that match
actions.
To put it simply: When a problem is brought up, the person involved will be removed for a period
of time. If they show genuine accountability and progress, they will be allowed to re-enter the
space, within reason.
Re: Guests
- Newcomers are still welcome in the same way they always were. Send us a message if you want
to join. Friends of friends are welcome as long as we are informed.
- Anyone over the age of 20 is welcome.
- You do not have to tie or be tied to be welcome in our space. Exploration is allowed and
encouraged! That said, this is a rope-centric event. Please come with an open-minded
attitude, and don’t treat it as a purely social space.
Re: Conduct
- If you are visibly drunk or otherwise intoxicated, please remove yourself from the jam. If
we have to remove you, you will not be invited back.
- We will provide an anonymous form on the website to submit incident reports (in both Thai
and English). That said, we would prefer people reaching out to either of us (Co or Juls)
directly, as this makes discussion easier. We will keep all communication private.
Re: Consent
- Consent should always established before a scene. You are an adult; we expect you to
(mostly) act like one.
- We will make consent forms available to people who want them as an option.
- We will also have a simplified 'rope radar' that you can fill out to start a conversation
about what you’re looking for in your tie. These are optional, but we hope they are helpful
for newcomers and a reminder for others.
Re: Consequences
- When a concern is raised is about a person (whether it’s at Ropium or not), we will suspend
them from the jam for 3 to 6 months depending on severity of the issue. This should be seen
as a cooldown period, not as judgement.
- After the cooldown period, the individual in question can contact us. If we feel the case
has been adequately dealt with (i.e. accountability is taken, steps are taken to avoid
reoccurrence, etc.), they will be allowed to return to the space. Otherwise, the suspension
will continue, and may persist up until a hard ban.
- Starting from our next jam, everyone who has had concerns raised about their conduct (that
we know of) will start a suspension period from Ropium. These people will be contacted
privately.
- We will NOT provide a public list of suspended people. If you would like to check whether a
specific individual is currently welcome in our space, please ask either of us privately. We
ask you to not publicise or post information about our suspension list on any (semi) public
forum or group. If you choose to share this information privately with someone else, tell
them about these guardrails.
